About Me

I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Human Resource Training and Development from Idaho State University with a GPA of 3.97.  I achieved my Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Communications with a minor in Business and Psychology from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a 3.99 GPA.

My Master’s Degree in Training and Development taught me the best techniques for the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of training programs and procedures.  I not only learned these principles, but was able to put them into action with my master’s thesis project at Qwest Communications.  Working with a diverse team and multiple stakeholders, we were able to lead out with a needs assessment of the current training program.  We counseled, planned, and executed the needs assessment through interviews, surveys, and curriculum reviews.  Synergy was the result. This accurate assessment allowed us to improve the training program through the implementation of more engaging enhancements which increased trainees’ levels of confidence to perform necessary job functions by as much as 66%. To review my thesis, see the above Research tab.

After graduation, I was able to employ the training and teaching skills I acquired from my education in managing several Simply Mac retail stores.  The key to my success was my ability to create an atmosphere of learning, improvement, and success in each location.  The Apple retail environment is one of constant change.  The biggest challenge for most store managers was keeping a team competent in their different job functions with all the changes in the field.  At each location I managed, we lead the store to great success due to our ability to create a positive learning environment and stay sharp in all aspects of the business.  This was accomplished through utilizing a learning management system, team training, and individual daily one-on-one training.

At BYU Broadcasting, I have demonstrated my ability to teach, train, and inspire individuals to help them achieve greater levels of performance.  The BYU Broadcasting call center was at a 9% decrease in year-over-year donations as of June 2014.  Since then, we have increased our performance to a 49% year-over-year increase in donations.  This will be the best year in revenue ever achieved by the BYU Broadcasting Telefunding team.

I am currently starting a project to revamp the training process for the Membership Department at BYU Broadcasting.  This will involve creating online training and making them available through Y-train, a mentor/coaching process, as well as group training in a community/team environment.  The online training will include video, screen captures, pictures, voice-overs, software simulations, and assessments.
